Equisetum Japonicum - 9cm pot
The barred horsetail is a pretty member of the horsetail family, the fleshy, evergreen stems being barred with black rings accentuating the beauty of the foliage.
Plant in clumps for striking effect.
Will grow to 80 cm tall.
Keep well watered, it can also be grown in the pond, the Barred horsetail is a striking and unusual subject for shallow water planting.
Attractive throughout the year, the evergreen stems are valued for providing winter interest.
Plant in a medium or large container using aquatic soil covered with pea gravel. An excellent plant for contrasting with flowering subjects.
Equisetum reproduces by spores that are grown on cones at the top of the stems.
Looks great in any size of pond, perfect for a wildlife pond.
Just trim back if and when needed.
Marginal plants are best placed on shelves or shallow areas within a pond.
Marginal planting depths are provided as a guide only, with the depth being the amount of water between the water surface and the top of the pond basket.
We recommend that 9cm marginal plants be potted up into a larger pond basket to allow room for growth. Make sure to position these smaller sized plants no deeper than 25% of the maximum recommended planting depth to allow the plants to mature.
